A member of the Arak Chamber of Commerce and Miners' Chamber of Commerce announced the end of the strikes to protest tax cuts as government representatives and protest strikers reached an agreement.

According to Iran's International Stone Exhibition, Behnam Nikfar has signed a memorandum of understanding on value added tax, saying: "The signing of a memorandum of understanding between government representatives and protesters to the VAT law has solved the problems of these production units.

He added: "Following the signing of this memorandum of understanding, the factories returned to stone production and all the factories that had closed their production units due to value added tax began to operate."

The director of the 8th Iran International Stone Exhibition continued: The agreement was signed at a meeting attended by representatives of the stone guilds, the head of the country's tax administration, the head of parliament's economic commission, deputies and experts at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs in Tehran.

He noted: According to the memorandum of association the stone producers were obliged to pay VAT in accordance with the law from January 1st, 2015 and to pay the respective accounts by the end of 2015 according to the timing of the Moody's Tax Agreement.

Nikfar added: Provincial and country stone producers believe in law enforcement and compliance, but issues have arisen over how to implement the tax law and consider the problems of manufacturing units.

Managing Director of Eighth International Stone Exhibition Iran said: During the past three years there have been several meetings with the officials on VAT law and all the problems that have arisen in this regard have been transferred to one of the most important concerns of producing infrastructure units. It was necessary to implement the tax law.

Member of the Arak Mining and Agricultural Chamber of Commerce said: "A new agreement between government officials and stone activists will be announced in the coming days by the Minister of Finance and Economy."

According to the memorandum, the problem of VAT will be solved by the end of 2015.
