The private sector pays little attention to securing the mines of Mazandaran
The head of the Mazandaran Mining Engineering Organization criticized what he called the "lack of attention of private sector operators to the safety of mines in the province" and said that solving this problem requires special and principled measures and more efforts of officials.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Mojtaba Mortazavi stated: Safety points are not observed in most of the mines of the province, especially coal mines, and if we continue to ignore this matter, we will see unfortunate accidents in this sector.
The warning of the head of the Mazandaran Mining Engineering System Organization comes a week after the collapse of a coal mine in Semnan province led to the death of two workers. On May 25, an accident occurred in tunnel No. 4 of the Tazreh mine, one of the four mines of the Eastern Alborz Coal Company, 50 km from Damghan, due to a sudden collapse of the workshop roof, and two contract workers were imprisoned.
Mortazavi announced the number of mines registered in Mazandaran as 250 units, and stating that 110 of these mines are currently extracting minerals, he said that out of the total number of active mining units, 50 mines have been identified in coal mining production, of which 22 mines are currently active.
He stated that due to various reasons, including economic problems caused by the oppressive sanctions of the enemies, only 50% of the capacity of Mazandaran mines is used, adding: "According to the law, the technical and safety officer must be present in the mines continuously, which in The mines that have been handed over to the private sector have been neglected.
The faculty member of Mazandaran Azad University, pointing out that private sector operators are not paying much attention to mining safety, said that one of the main reasons for this is the high price of purchasing safety and protection equipment for mines and said: Private sector operators have faced major problems in purchasing safety equipment, including ventilation and other items.
Mortazavi explained: "Currently, most of the coal mines in Mazandaran, which operate under the supervision of the private sector, do not have a gas meter and proper ventilation, and in the event of an explosion, we will see unfortunate accidents."
He said that in the mines that are operating under the supervision of the government, there will be more supervision and safety points have been paid more attention, he said: according to the law, 10% of the mines' revenue sources should be spent on safety, which private sector exploiters lack. Are attention.
The head of Mazandaran Mining Engineering Organization stressed the need to increase purchases, upgrade safety equipment and heavy machinery in the mines and added: "Improper and unprofessional exploitation will hit the minerals and if not extracted properly, the useful life of the mines will be reduced."
Mortazavi described the provision of heavy machinery for private operators as a difficult task due to the increase in the price of currency, and said that the current purchase price of a pair of loader tires is 300 million rials, which in addition to increasing the cost of extracting minerals such as sand. And sand increases the cost to the consumer.
According to the Mazandaran Mining Engineering Organization, out of 3,500 miners in the province, 1,500 work in 50 coal mines.
