Exploitation of new mines in Taft over the past few years has become one of the main environmental challenges in Yazd province and the mining city of Taft.

Taft has a special position due to the existence of summer and green areas, tourist attractions, Khorram mountainous areas, Shirkuh wildlife sanctuary, natural and ancient attractions, and the most diverse and most natural and historical monuments of the province are located in this city.

Taft with 1,466 aqueducts has the largest number of aqueducts in the country and the rural areas of this city have always been the recreational destination of the people of Yazd province and even other provinces and there are few people who travel to Yazd and miss the presence in this beautiful city. , A city in the heart of the desert, is famous for its beauty and greenery.

Now, with the special conditions of this region, any factor that wants to lead to the destruction of the environment and harmful effects on the pristine and pleasant nature of the city will lead to the reaction of environmental activists and a significant part of the people, especially residents of the area.

In recent years, the seizure of mines on the natural resources and historical monuments of this city, has created unpleasant effects that if it continues, in the not too distant future, the most diverse tourist city of Yazd province will become a city of mines.

Mines that, although they may have economic benefits in the long run, do not add value or benefit to its inhabitants and even cause damage to the region's infrastructure such as canals and rural roads and even some natural and historical attractions. Exposed to destruction.

The center of Taft, a city of 50,000 people, is located 20 km southwest of Yazd.
