Rehabilitation of 40 stagnant mines in South Khorasan in the past year
The head of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of South Khorasan announced the revitalization and activation of about 40 stagnant and inactive mines in the province in the past year and stated: It is being followed and done.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Abbas Jorjani regarding the assignment of stagnant mines said: During the past 6 years, mines in South Khorasan province have been stagnant and inactive or semi-active for various reasons. These mines returned to the production cycle.
He said that several meetings have been held with the presence of exploiters for this purpose, adding that the mines activated by these exploiters work in the fields of coal, copper, gold, granite, travertine, bentonite, industrial soil, magnesite and other minerals.
The Secretary of the Mines Council of South Khorasan Province stressed the need to activate other stagnant mines as soon as possible by the exploiters and said: It is important to hold assignment meetings with the exploiters to reactivate the mines, hold public auctions and open mining areas for investors. Competence and technical and financial ability are also in the priority and serious agenda of this organization this year.
He added: "South Khorasan has a lot of potential in the field of mines and mining industries, and the proper use of these capacities can play an important role in developing employment, creating added value and generating income for the province."
According to the latest official statistics, 6% of the country's total mines, 5.1% of definite reserves, 2.4% of nominal extraction and 8.5% of employment in the country's mines are related to South Khorasan and it is the fourth mining province in the country.
South Khorasan is called as a paradise of mines due to its special geological position and the fact that out of 65 known minerals in the country, about 50 of them are in this province.
Diverse and valuable collection of minerals including coal, iron ore, dolomite, andalusite, various types of decorative stones including granite, marble, travertine and a collection of rare minerals such as chromite, magnesite, asbestos, hontite along with deposits of copper, gold, lead Silica, fluorine, potash, lead, zinc and industrial soils clearly show the value of this desert soil.
