Warning against fraudulent Thai companies from Iranian businessmen
Following the increase in scams against Iranian businessmen and companies by Thai companies, some officials, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, advised economic activists to pay special attention to arranging commercial contracts and to accredit Thai companies through the economic section of the Iranian Embassy in Bangkok.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, some reports from Thailand indicate an increase in scams against Iranian businessmen by Thai-based companies that have no foreign presence and have caused losses to Iranian companies.
According to these reports, in most of these cases, amounts of less than $ 10,000 have been requested by the Iranian side because it reduces the likelihood of the plaintiff pursuing the lawsuit and paying the lawyer's costs.
Some reports also suggest that a $ 600,000 fraud was struck by an Iranian company in a deal with a sham Thai company to buy plastic gloves last March.
To this end, in their advice to Iranian economic actors and businessmen cooperating with the Thai market, the responsible institutions emphasized that before signing any trade agreement, they should accredit Thai companies through the economic department of the Iranian Embassy in Bangkok and with full knowledge of identity. Let their business partners start economic cooperation with Thai companies.
