Experts and activists in the mining sector believe that in addition to the difficulty of mining, the lack of a suitable platform for employment of graduates of mining engineering and related fields can be one of the factors reducing students' interest in studying in this field of engineering.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, our country is one of the most important countries in this field due to its rich reserves and mineral resources, and for this reason, the labor market of mining engineering and related scientific and engineering branches is expected to flourish, but unfortunately despite The great importance of this science and its wide application in the field of mining, we see that in addition to the annual decrease in the number of graduates and people's desire to study in the field of mining engineering, the labor market has not yet opened a suitable place for new mining engineers.

Experts and activists in the mining sector believe that in addition to the difficulty of mining, the lack of a suitable platform for employment of graduates of mining engineering and related fields can be one of the factors reducing students' interest in studying in this field of engineering.

Mining engineering vacuum in mining industry

Mehdi Lotfi, a mining expert, said about the role of mining engineering in the development of this field: "Undoubtedly, mines have a significant role in the development of the country; Especially in recent years, following the emphasis of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution on the policies of the resistance economy, the mining sector has become more important and it can be said that today mines are the drivers of economic and industrial development of the country. Mining engineers play an important role in the exploration, extraction and processing sectors, but the gap in mining engineering roles in the general government development policies is felt prominently.

Lotfi added: "In the field of mining engineering and mineral geology, we have the organization of the mining engineering system, which operates as a union and has a very good performance, but the organization of the mining engineering system must be empowered and strengthened by the government;" Because this institution has the necessary capacities to play a more prominent role in the discussion of mining development. But today in the mining sector, both in the mines that are being explored and in the extraction and exploitation, as well as in connection with the short-term licenses issued for extraction and extraction, a graduate in mining or geology has been approved if he is qualified and licensed. Be employed, be present in accordance with the Mining Law and Regulations; Therefore, engineers and graduates of mining fields are present in the mining sector and related processes such as exploration and extraction, but in the discussion of mining industries, the vacancy of these engineers is unfortunately strongly felt.

 Lack of binding regulations

Emphasizing the effective role of the government and the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade in mining policies, the mining expert said: "Experts believe that one of the policies of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade could be a wider and more active presence of graduates in mining in the mining industry than in the past." . This seems to require instructions and directives that require mining units to use engineers and graduates of mining and related disciplines. He added: "Large-scale mining industries benefit from the presence of mining engineers and graduates of related fields, but this has not happened in small-scale processing units, and it seems that in the future the bed of mining experts in these mines should be smoother."

Labor market encourages youth

Mehdi Lotfi stated about the existing regulations in the section of technical and financial qualifications for issuing mining activities licenses: At the beginning of mining activities and determining the working scope of mines according to the regulations, applicants must have technical and financial qualifications. This competence is jointly reviewed by the Mining Engineering System Organization and the industry, mining and trade organizations of each province and is finally approved or rejected by the industry, mining and trade organizations of the respective province.

He added: "Unfortunately, in the qualifications regulations, because they have been regulated over the past years, scientific qualifications and technical competencies have not been specifically addressed, and in fact the presence of graduates and mining specialists has not been addressed." According to experts, the law of technical and financial competencies should be reviewed in the current situation of the country, and assigning appropriate weight to scientific qualifications and employment of graduates of mining engineering and related fields, can be one of the incentives for mine owners and engineers to work in mines. This, while creating employment for an important group of the country's youth, will lead to the technical development of mining engineering and will further lead to higher positions in the world mining sector.

Effective courses of engineering system

Mehdi Lotfi, following the emphasis on creating opportunities for mining engineering graduates and students to gain experience, said: "In order to use and use the university capacities, both the public and private sectors and mines must trust and work with mining engineers and graduates and gain work experience." Provide for them, because one of the important needs of our mining community is to use the capabilities of mining engineering graduates.

He added: "In addition, in the mining field of the country, it is necessary to highlight the role of the Mining Engineering System Organization and the mining engineering graduates should be updated by the Engineering System Organization after completing university courses and receive on-the-job training from this organization."

He also continued: "Specialized training courses are held every year by the Mining Engineering System Organization and valid certificates are awarded to students." Attending these courses requires the pursuit of graduates and the desire to participate and gain more specialized knowledge.

A long way to reach the global position in terms of technology

Mohammad Turkman, referring to the small share of university graduates in mining jobs, said: "It can be said that about 10 to 15% of mining jobs are held by mining graduates and mining engineers." The reason for this can also be considered the traditional way of managing mines. Unfortunately, in most parts of the country, mines are managed and operated based on empirical knowledge and also in traditional ways. Therefore, specialists and university graduates in this field are not used optimally. Of course, it should be noted that in large-scale mines, mining engineers and specialists are used as technical managers and often rely on mining engineering.

He added: "It is necessary to mention that we are witnessing shortcomings in the academic and scientific sector, and in the opinion of some experts, our specialists and university graduates have a long way to go to achieve global positions in terms of technology and information."

Closing remarks ...

The use of mining specialists and university graduates is one of the duties of our country's mines these days, and according to experts, the lack of work related to mining engineers, in addition to creating disruption in the labor market, has hit the country's mining body and our mines from development. And global progress has been open. Education and research are considered as the basic pillars of growth and development of many industries such as mining industry. In this regard, we see that various sectors active in the field of mining, from government organizations to private organizations, have put extensive programs on their agenda to improve the knowledge of mining professionals and activists. In addition, the establishment of a specialized mining university and the use of experienced professors to train specialized personnel, can provide the ground for the presence of people interested in learning new mining methods in these centers. This issue can be a way for more mines to be activated in the mining provinces of the country, which have a lot of resources, and along with this issue, create jobs in the region.
