Iran should reach $ 600 billion in annual exports
Chairman of the Foreign Exchange Committee of the Iran Chamber: Given the population and power that lies in this country, reaching $ 600 billion in annual exports should happen.
According to the Iran International Stone Exhibition, a meeting to review the problems and concerns of exporters was organized by the Deputy Minister of Business of the Iran Chamber and attended by the Head of Trade Development Organization, Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General of Iran's Customs Export Office, Head of Central Bank Export Office Which has been selected as the National Export Day in recent years.
According to Ali Mollai, Deputy Minister of Business of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, the National Export Day ceremony, which was held on January 13, was to provide an opportunity for exporters to explain their problems in the presence of the country's officials. Differently in holding this ceremony, it was decided to hold a series of meetings with the presence of exporters in different departments and to examine the existing problems in more detail. He expressed the hope that in the form of these meetings, a significant number of issues could be raised and solutions provided.
Support exports and strengthen the exporter
Mohammad Reza Ansari, Vice President of the Iran Chamber and Chairman of the Foreign Exchange Committee, stated that in the National Export Day ceremony, which is an official meeting, it is not possible to properly explain the concerns and problems and expect a solution, so it was decided to hold meetings. And discuss and examine issues in a more technical way.
According to this economic activist, people's livelihoods and the improvement of their lives are indirectly related to exports, and if we pay attention to this relationship, then we should value the exporters' army and plan to grow and facilitate their activities. A boom in production requires the development of exports, although this is still not institutionalized among officials.
He pointed to the rise in the value of the currency over the past few years and said: "Although this price increase has caused inflation, it has created the capacity to increase exports." About $ 40 billion in exports were made, which shows that we can increase our foreign exchange earnings without relying on oil sales.
According to Ansari, despite all the efforts and arguments, unfortunately in this period of time we did the opposite and closed the hands of our own army and involved them in the problems of the Nima system. The room spent a lot of time on this issue to reverse the trend.
Referring to governments' support for their exporters and prioritizing them, the Vice President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated: "On the world stage, export competitors are strengthened by their governments, but Iranian exporters, on the contrary, must enter the campaign without support and restrictions." Let. Support means solving problems quickly and reducing bureaucracies so that energy is spent only on exports.
Referring to the situation today and yesterday in Asian countries such as South Korea, Malaysia, Turkey, etc., the head of the Iran Chamber's foreign exchange committee said: "Malaysia's annual exports are between 200 and 260 billion dollars and this figure has been achieved with a population of 30 million people. Are there more Malaysians than us? The same is true of Turkey. These countries had only about three to four billion dollars in exports before they made exports a priority. How did they reach this volume of exports?
Ansari emphasized: The development mechanism is the mechanism of export support. The Iran Chamber seeks to untie the knots that have tied exporters and exporters over the years. We all have to answer the question, do Iranians deserve to reach $ 600 billion in exports a year? Yes, given the population and the power that lies in this country, reaching this volume of exports must happen.
According to the Vice President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, export support is essential in global competition, and this is happening in developed countries; Exports are pursued by the highest executive, and this level of support undoubtedly makes it more difficult to compete in exports.
We are pursuing the reform of the administrative structures of the Trade Development Organization
Hamid Zadboom, the head of the Trade Development Organization, while emphasizing that the ranking of exporters and supporting them affect the growth of exports, said: "We are currently seeking to update the framework of the Trade Development Organization based on studies conducted on trade development organizations in other countries." . The administrative structures and subdivisions of the executive apparatus are seriously disrupted and need to be repaired. Unfortunately, we have serious backwardness and gaps in this area. The administrative structure has created many problems in the commercial system, and in order to correct this issue, the public culture, the parliament and other elements must be involved and serious steps must be taken to equip the administrative and structural capacity of the country.
The official further referred to the recent explosion on the Dugharun border and the damage caused, adding: "100 to 150 million dollars are exported from Iran to Afghanistan every month, 70% of which are petroleum products." This problem caused an interruption in the export process and the conditions for the resumption of exports should be provided as soon as possible. According to initial estimates, 500 to 600 trailers were destroyed, 120 of which were Iranian, but it does not matter because all of these trailers were carrying Iranian cargo.
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade continued by presenting statistics on the volume of foreign exchange obligations that have been fulfilled by the end of December, and said: 58 billion Euros of foreign exchange commitments have been made during this period, of which 40 billion Euros have been fulfilled, of which 36 Billions of euros have been played by manufacturers who also export. Accordingly, 18 billion euros of foreign exchange liability remains.
Exports are not yet a priority for the country's decision-makers
Sayyed Rasoul Mohajer, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, said that most developed Asian countries decided at the same time and changed their export process, adding: "Iran has never been export-oriented and has always relied on oil revenues." Minimal sanctions forced us to think about the need to expand exports. For prosperity and development of exports, we must consider it as the principle of our decision-making system, export must be the principle and not an estimate of domestic demand, without a doubt, domestic demand is insatiable and we should not constantly change our export system based on this need.
Regarding the equipping of the economic section of the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs based on the information of the embassies of the country all over the world, the official clarified: the work in this section has started and we are pursuing its completion. We hope that with the finalization of this project, it will be possible for economic actors and exporters to obtain up-to-date information on the needs of target markets through this website.
Adjust base export prices
Keyvan Kashefi, a member of the board of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, criticized the inconsistencies between the decisions made and the changes that occur at the psychological level of society. We have tried to solve this problem forever and radically, none of the responsible devices have worked yet, and the problems in this area remain strong.
This economic activist considered it necessary to have a portal to monitor the status of each exporter 's foreign exchange liabilities and emphasized: When the issue of foreign exchange liabilities was raised, you should also provide its infrastructure. After some time has passed since the implementation of the foreign exchange obligation, the issuer is still not able to monitor the status of its foreign exchange obligations through a system or portal, and each time it must be informed of its conditions by referring to different organizations.
"The private sector understood the government's concerns about currency and sanctions, and despite all the pressure, it worked," he said. "You got all the importers and exporters involved in security issues. Today, one of our businessmen is in the courts and the other in the organizations." And various devices to keep their business alive. The demand of the Iran Chamber is to break this heavy atmosphere that hinders the progress of trade.
In the meantime, the speakers of the meeting, while expressing their views and what is necessary for the development of exports, paid attention to the concerns and challenges of the exporters present at the meeting. Developing an export strategy, a clear roadmap and appointing a trustee for this sector was the first demand of exporters that was emphasized in this meeting. Improving the quality and quantity of the country's logistics, planning to reduce the cost of money transfers in trade, supporting exporters to participate in international exhibitions and branding costs, establishing direct and direct communication between embassies and economic organizations under the Iran Chamber, holding specialized meetings Other issues raised at the meeting were examining the export challenges of each commodity group and ultimately determining the export quota in each commodity group to avoid one-time and unprofessional bans.
