Iran is one of the top 10 mines in the world with more than 68 types of minerals, but the neglect of this God-given capital has caused this sector to have less than one percent of GDP.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, at present the share of mines in GDP of other countries is between 5 to 7%, while Iran with its high capacity and potential in this field has not yet been able to benefit enough from it in the economic cycle.

Out of 11,000 mining units with exploitation licenses in the country, only 5,600 units are active and semi-active, and the other half of the country's mines are stagnant and inactive. If we add the lack of liquidity, machine wear and raw materials to this problem, it becomes clear. Much of this national capital has been left untouched, undecided and neglected for years.

West Azerbaijan is also rich in mines with 489 mines and 51 types of minerals and is in the fourth place after Kerman, Khorasan Razavi and Isfahan provinces, but so far this capacity has not only led to economic prosperity but also a knot in the employment problem of the province. It has not been opened, and despite this God-given wealth, some areas of the province are still suffering from deprivation.

One of the biggest advantages of this province in the development of conversion industries is the border of West Azerbaijan with three foreign countries, which can greatly facilitate exports and be a good market for the products of these production units, but the mining sector and downstream industries are the center of development of West Azerbaijan. It is considered, but the stone mines of this province are facing many problems such as selling raw materials and lack of market.

Geological features, especially the inclusion of two sedimentary structural zones of Azerbaijan Zagros, has caused a variety of mineralization of minerals including mica, gold, silver, mercury, chromite, copper, various building stones and silica, dolomite, titanium and various types of marble. Travertine, marble, porcelain, granite and feldspar, refractory coal and… as rare reserves and wealth will be created in the province.

The existence of two gold mines in Takab alone is a great God-given capacity in this region, but negligence and carelessness has caused a small share in the exploitation of this blessing of the province and the profit of the province and the country is not profitable. Countries.

Experts believe that despite the potential of West Azerbaijan in the field of mining, the lack of added value of mineral processing, the existence of mineral block areas, the issuance of mining licenses for non-specialists and the lack of a comprehensive plan of processing units have led to the province's unique economic potential. Don't be.

The country's mines are not in a real position

Regarding the latest situation of the country's mines, the head of the country's Mining Engineering Organization said that unfortunately, despite the high capacity in this field, this sector is not in a real position: "In the field of mines, there has been a lot of shortages, although Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world. But its share of GDP was less than one percent, indicating the depth of the disaster.

Pointing out that short-term compensation in the field of mines requires investment, Taghi Nabi said: "The field of investment is to have security, which is currently practically non-existent due to the lack of stability in the market and currency."

Complaining about the lack of a codified strategy in the country's mining sector, he added: "Most of the measures in the country's mining sector are scattered and island, and despite this high potential, we do not have any codified program in the mining sector for the next 10 years."

Local dissidents, opponents of the executive and military apparatuses, including the environment, natural resources, endowments and charities, along with the lack of liquidity and worn-out machinery are among the most important reasons announced by the head of the country's mining engineering organization regarding the country's stagnant mining industry.

Establishment of a center for the development of international relations in the field of mining in West Azerbaijan

Referring to the weak supervision of mining activities, Nabi added: "One of the problems is the lack of executive guarantees for the designs that we do in the mining field, that is, in the current situation, we inspect mines on a case-by-case basis, which are listed by the Ministry of Industry." The existence of danger in these mines is announced. We also submit the analyzed results of the inspections to the ministry to investigate and eliminate the defects.

The head of the Mining Engineering Organization criticized the lack of accurate and complete supervision in various areas of industry and mining, saying: The Ministry of Silence and other executive bodies in the field of mining do not have accurate and complete supervision over mining activities and this weakness in exploration, extraction and investment. It has a negative effect in the field of mines.

Regarding the mining capacities of West Azerbaijan, Nabi said that West Azerbaijan is one of the most important mining hubs of the country. "West Azerbaijan Province is one of the top provinces with a high number of mines in the country and the Mining Engineering Organization of this province has 2,000 members," he said. However, the province's mining sector, like the country, has not grown significantly, and this capacity must be used properly in the field of employment and economic prosperity.

The head of the Mining Engineering Organization announced the establishment of a center for the development of international relations in the field of mining in West Azerbaijan province and added: In the city of Urmia, due to the appropriate regional and mineral conditions of West Azerbaijan province, it is possible to advance the goals and establish relations with these countries more than before.

Liberation of 15,400 mineral areas in the country

Referring to the existence of gold mines in West Azerbaijan and the lack of sufficient use of this mineral capacity, Nabi said: "According to the Minister of Silence, the provinces that have active and economic mines should be defined socially responsible for these mines if this is in the field of gold mines in West Azerbaijan in Takab." Implement a large part of the profits from these mines will be spent on deprivation and employment in the city and region.

He also stressed the need to revise and reform the mining laws in the country and said: "Many laws are not principled and are related to the time when mining organizations were not formed in the country, if these laws are reformed and revised according to the capacity of mining organizations." One can hope that many of the country's mineral problems will be solved.

The head of the country's mining engineering organization also announced the liberation of 15,400 mining areas in the country by the end of this year and said: "Liberation of mining areas has begun and extensive information has been provided before this activity can be carried out within a specific time frame."

Investment is the most important strategy for the prosperity of the mines of West Azerbaijan

Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of West Azerbaijan regarding the latest situation of mines in West Azerbaijan, noting that 68 types of minerals have been identified in the country, said: "There are 51 types of this number in the province. And is exploited and the major minerals are used in industries such as construction, cosmetics, health, steel, oil and the like.

Parisa Abedpour, stating that 17 million 680 thousand 825 tons of various minerals are extracted annually from the mines of this province, continued: In this sector, employment is provided directly for five thousand 200 people in the mining sector of the province.

He stated that the amount of investment in these mines is 3,740 billion and 138 million Rials and added: "Currently, about 80% of the mines in the province are active, but the lack of attention to this area in recent years has caused us not to see significant development in this area." .

The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of West Azerbaijan called the lack of processing and raw materials industries the most important problem of the province's mines and said: Climatic conditions in this province have caused many mines in the province in three to four months They are unable to operate during the year due to rain and cold weather, which is one of the most important problems along with selling raw materials.

He said that 63 square kilometers of mineral zone in the north and 445 square kilometers of mineral zone in the south of the province could be explored, which are currently unused, he said: It is not exported, a significant part of the mining areas of the north and south of West Azerbaijan is covered with ash, which makes the implementation of mining projects difficult.

West Azerbaijan's mineral potential for investment is not properly calculated

Referring to the existence of 196 stagnant mines in the province, Abedpour added: "We are preparing identification cards for the province's mines in order to introduce them to investors so that we can attract more investors in the field of mines and mining industries by providing accurate information."

The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries of the West Azerbaijan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization considered the identification of new capacities, development of small mines and establishment of mining processing units in order to prevent the development of mines and mining industries as the most important solutions to the problems facing mines.

The governor of West Azerbaijan in the last meeting to review the problems of the province's mines, stating that the province's mining capacities for investment have not been properly calculated and specified, said: to enter the private sector to invest in the province's mines must prepare a mining atlas that includes investment capacities and benefits Be.

Mohammad Mehdi Shahriari believes that employment and profitability in the mining sector need to provide the necessary infrastructure for private sector participation, but so far the capacity of mines has not been properly utilized in the development of the province.

The governor of West Azerbaijan added: "The mines of West Azerbaijan should be handed over to specialized and qualified people and this should be a priority in the development of mines and mining industries as a necessity for the work of relevant officials."

Despite being in the list of the top 10 countries in the world in the field of mining and the fourth rank of West Azerbaijan province in the field of mines, this capacity is still easily eroded; At the same time, paying attention to this area while solving the employment problem can lead to deprivation and economic prosperity not only in the province but also in the country and the region.
