Chairman of the Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce: Infrastructure should be provided so that our economic actors can export through Oman to other countries that do not accept our goods from Iran and also enjoy zero customs tariffs.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Mohsen Zarabi said about his recent visit to Oman: The Joint Chamber, as a private sector parliament, has the task of facilitating relations and creating infrastructure and conditions that increase the volume of economic relations. Of course, this must be done with the help of governments and ambassadors of the two countries. In this regard, we have traveled to Oman in recent years and held several meetings, for a while due to the corona outbreak and the conditions that were created and flights were canceled.

He added: "My trip to Oman was in line with these cases." Since February 2013, when the Council of Commerce was upgraded to a joint chamber of commerce of Iran and Oman, the first thing it did was to draw a roadmap for economic relations between the two countries, identify its obstacles and problems, and make suggestions to address this. Offered obstacles. We can clearly see the results of these measures and the follow-ups carried out by the governments of the two countries, especially the Ministry of Silence and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Oman, as well as the embassies of the two countries in the volume of economic relations in recent years.

He pointed out: From 1982 to 1992, the volume of annual exchanges varied from 190 to 220 million dollars, which was not a significant volume. Fortunately, in 1997, the volume of these transactions reached one billion and 161 million dollars. That is, it increased about 5 times in 5 years.

Referring to the volume of trade between the two countries, Zarabi stated: In 1998, due to the special conditions of the country, central bank directives and export bans, the volume of trade with most countries, including Oman, decreased and the volume of our trade with Oman was $ 697 million. Receipt.

Referring to the axes emphasized by Oman, he said: "The program of the joint room with Oman is in four axes, one of these axes is to increase exports to Oman, the other is the re-export plan through Oman according to the infrastructure of Oman free zones and laws It is governed by the agreements that Oman has with other countries, including the FTA (Free Trade Agreement) with 16 Arab-African countries, Singapore, the United States and four European countries.

The head of the Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce noted: "The third axis is imports through Oman and the replacement of modern ports with some ports in the region that have reduced their political relations with Iran and hostile treatment of economic actors, people and our government in several They have had in recent years.

He added: The fourth axis is the focus on the tenth five-year development plan of Oman. The program has 6 axes in the fields of fisheries, mining, tourism, industry, transportation and logistics, as well as research training. We also focus on these axes and plan. So these four issues are in the Joint Chamber of Commerce program.

Referring to the negotiations in the field of mining, Zarabi said: "During this trip, in a meeting we had with the Minister of Mines and Energy of Oman, the CEO of the Daqam Oman Free Zone and also the CEO of the Mining Development Company, detailed and very good negotiations were held in the field of mining." we gave. Oman is a pristine and rich country in terms of minerals that in recent years the government of this country has not paid much attention to this area, but in recent years have paid special attention to it and in the ninth and tenth development plan, as one of the main axes of their country's development. put. In the last few months, Sultan Haytham, who introduced his new cabinet, has established an independent ministry called the Ministry of Mines and Energy, which shows that mining is very important to Oman.

Emphasizing the capabilities of our companies and economic activists in the field of mining, he added: "We have high experience and capability in the field of mining in our country, and therefore we can provide this capability and experience in all upstream and downstream mining sectors to Oman." In order to implement this issue, in the first phase, the Joint Chamber signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iran Mining House, and a committee was established under the Joint Chamber Technical, Engineering and Investment Services Commission, called the "Specialized Mining Committee". .. in Oman.

Mohsen Zarabi also said: "Fortunately, since the geological characteristics of our country are very close to Oman in terms of mineral minerals, our experiences can be very useful in this country." In the meetings that were held, it was decided to make joint investments between the private sector of the two countries.

He added: Oman is also interested; Companies that have capabilities and are serious in this matter should be introduced, and therefore in this regard, this joint chamber will identify these companies and ensure their seriousness, and we will try to introduce capable companies and the conditions of their presence in the country. Facilitate Oman.

The head of the Iran-Oman Joint Chamber continued: "Oman is very rich in minerals, we need to examine in what areas and what company is present, based on which we define the amount of joint work." The important point is to return our technical and engineering services to the country with added value. You can do exploration as an Iranian contractor or consultant and get paid to explore, but if you take a mining field and then do the exploration work and the extraction and exploitation plan is presented, there is added value that benefits many times over. As a contractor or consultant. The mining sector is one of the most profitable fields and everyone is looking to participate in mining projects in other countries.

Referring to the banking problems in the trade between the two countries, he stated: "Considering the situation of sanctions in our country, Oman, despite these conditions, has tried to provide conditions to increase economic relations between the two countries, but in any case one of the effects of sanctions on the banking system." This problem exists not only in Oman but also in many countries, some countries have hostile attitudes and some do not. One of the issues raised during the trip was the opening of bank accounts for Iranian companies in Oman. Negotiations were also held on increasing shipping lines so that we can increase our exports to this country and create the infrastructure for re-exporting and importing through Oman.

Zarabi added: "During this trip, we talked about various areas, including mining, re-export and import infrastructure, holding a special exhibition of Iran in Oman in a virtual way."

"Economic actors can re-export through Oman," he said, adding that one of the most important issues is re-export. Infrastructure must be provided so that our economic actors can export through Oman to other countries that do not accept our goods from Iran, and also enjoy the zero customs tariff that exists in Oman. Oman is perhaps one of the few countries in the region, especially in the Persian Gulf, where we can register a company and re-export.

The head of the Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce continued: "The issue that is also emphasized by the Iranian ambassador to Oman and the joint chamber is that some brokers are spreading unrealistic propaganda about Oman and some of our compatriots are in trouble." they do. There is propaganda that a person can stay in Oman by registering a company or take money from our youth under the pretext of work and take these people to Oman and create a lot of expenses for them without any thought. The fact is that Oman is a good country, but it is not supposed to cover all our problems, and it is really not possible to solve all our problems through this country.

He added: "Our request is that economic activists and the people should not be deceived by these speculators, from whom they also take large sums of money." If they want to have real economic activity, they can pay attention to Oman, but this country is not suitable for all economic actors. Be sure to decide before coming to this country; Refer to the Trade Development Organization, the Joint Chamber or the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Oman. The common room gives them free advice. In our opinion, these three bodies have the authority to advise in this regard. The rest of the companies and individuals working in this field are not qualified in our opinion. As a result, we ask you to seek advice from the competent authorities, whose first priority is the interests of the country and the people, and for whom there is no personal interest.
