Iran's trade relations with some countries are being reopened
In a meeting with the Minister of Economy of Armenia, the Governor of the Central Bank, while expressing hope for the improvement of Iran's trade and economic conditions, emphasized the use of the opportunity provided for the development of cooperation capacities between the two countries.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Abdolnasser Hemmati at the beginning of the meeting, referring to the long and historical history of trade and cultural relations between the two countries, said: "Unfortunately, the volume of trade relations between the two countries can not reflect the long history of bilateral cooperation." Be; Therefore, we hope that by holding similar meetings, we will be able to further strengthen mutual relations and witness the development of economic relations.
The head of the Monetary and Credit Council said that Iran and Armenia are members of the Eurasian Economic Union, adding that Armenia, using its geographical location, can have a tremendous impact on the development of trade relations between the two countries and with the union as a whole, especially as traders. Iranians are very interested in exporting to Armenia.
The head of the Central Bank added: "Iran's economic situation is improving despite the heavy pressure of US sanctions, and we have been able to achieve positive economic growth this year."
He stressed: "In general, we believe that sanctions are not sustainable and now, Iran's trade relations with some countries are being reopened and it is a good time for Armenia, as a friendly and neighboring country, to develop its relations with Iran."
Hemmati added: "During the first 10 months of this year, Iran has been able to export $ 260 million to Armenia, which is equivalent to less than 30% of imports from Armenia, which is a small amount and a solution must be created to balance or transfer surplus resources." Trade so that Iran can increase its exports even more.
Furthermore, the Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Karubian, while thanking the hosting of the Central Bank of Iran, called for the development of trade and economic relations between the two nations, especially the investment and production activities of important Iranian companies in Armenia.
Finally, considering the importance of resolving the banking issues of the two countries, he invited the Governor of the Central Bank to travel to Yerevan to pursue specialized banking issues and financial exchanges with the Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia.
