The governor of Esfarayen announced the conclusion of a contract between the Organization for Development and Renovation of Mines and Mining Industries of Iran (Imidro) with a protection company for the protection of lead and zinc mines in the north of this city of Khorasan.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Taher Rostami stated: This contract was signed in the presence of Imidro managers, the head of the North Khorasan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization and the selected protection company in Esfarayen.

He added: "This action was taken by abandoning the legal formalities due to the time required to renew the tender and a four-month temporary contract was concluded with a protection company that has the necessary capacity to protect this area and at the same time the tender process will be one year."

The governor of Esfarayen added: the establishment of the facilities, equipment and barracks of this protection company will be done from today until the end of the week in Albagh area.

Rostami said: in the coming days, the operation of clearing the Albalagh area from the presence of illegal harvesters will be carried out.

He added: with the arrival of the protection company, the presence of harvesters in the Alabagh area is prohibited and it will be dealt with legally.

Illegal extraction from the Alabagh Esfarayen lead and zinc mine, which is located in a mountainous and difficult-to-pass area of the same name, began in late 1397, which intensified in the spring of last year with the influx of profiteers into the area.

The location of this mine in Sarigol Environmental Protected Area caused the North Khorasan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization to fail to register it for a long time, but last year the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade issued a permit for initial studies and explorations on this mining area for Imidro. Issued.

Rock and rubble falls at the Albalagh mine have so far claimed the lives of seven illegal harvesters, some of whom are traveling from other parts of the country.

The 120,000-strong city of Esfarayen is located 60 km southeast of Bojnourd.
