A review of the 9-month statistics of this year on the status of exploration, exploitation licenses and discovery certificates shows their growth compared to the same period last year, and this shows the attention to the mining sector in the conditions of intensifying sanctions and the Corona crisis.

According to the International Stone Exhibition of Iran, based on the statistical tables of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, 701 mining exploration licenses were issued in the first 9 months of this year, which increased by 4.8% compared to the same period last year, which was 669.

367 items of discovery certificate

 A review of the ministry's preliminary statistics shows that 367 items of discovery certificates were issued during the reporting period, an increase of 1.4 percent compared to the first nine months of 1998, when 362 items were registered.

Iran is among the top 15 countries in this regard, identifying about 60 billion tons of mineral reserves, of which about 40 billion tons are definite and the rest are probable.

3.8% growth in mining licenses

The number of mining licenses in the first nine months of this year reached 462, which is an increase of 3.8 percent compared to 445 in the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Industry, by the end of last year, 10,400 mines in the country had mining licenses, of which 5,600 were active and the rest were inactive, being equipped or closed due to depletion of reserves.

Last year, in the autumn and winter seasons, 232 and 290 exploration licenses were issued, respectively, 124 and 144 exploration certificates were registered, and the mining exploitation licenses were 158 and 131, respectively.

According to this report, the total number of exploration licenses reached 959 last year, a decrease of 6.8% compared to 1,029 in 1397.

Also, the number of discovery certificates last year had reached 506, compared to 559 in 1397, a decrease of 9.5 percent.

In addition, in the field of exploitation licenses, it reached 575 items last year and compared to 648 items in 1397, it has decreased by 11.3 percent.
