The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade is trying to clarify the duties of about 13,000 mines in the country, which are known as stagnant, and this will be key from January 14 this year.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, the ministry had previously predicted a three-month deadline for the activation of stagnant mines, according to the circular, and thus this opportunity is coming to an end, and from January 14 the process of liberating about 13,000 mines Uncertainty is on the agenda.

Official statistics of mines and the need for unification

The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries of the Ministry of Industry announced on April 20, 2010: The number of mines with exploitation licenses in the country is 10,404, but now the Ministry has announced that 13,000 mines are stagnant.

Meanwhile, Dariush Ismaili stated: The number of active mines in the country is 5,600 and the rest are considered inactive and stagnant.

Five-year mining activation program

The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade in the 11th government announced the annual activation of 200 inactive mines, and last year it was announced that more than 150 mines were in the production cycle.

The Deputy Minister of Mines of this ministry has repeatedly announced the activation of one thousand stagnant mines this year, and this issue has not been clarified for more than 80 days until the end of the year and is not expected to materialize.

Inactivity statistics of about 4,000 mines

The Ministry of Industry and the Imidro Organization have repeatedly raised the issue of inactivity of about 4,000 mines this year, and that the activation of these mines has been implemented within the framework of the rehabilitation and activation plan.

The Organization for the Development and Renovation of Iran's Mines and Mineral Industries (Imidro) has taken over the responsibility of activating stagnant mines by the Ministry of Industry, and this organization has also entrusted an important mission to the Iranian Minerals Production Company.

Annual average extraction statistics

Previous statistics from the Ministry of Industry show that an average of 400 million tons of minerals are extracted annually from 5,600 active mines in the country, up from 410 million tons last year.

The Deputy Minister of Mines has promised that the volume of mining will be increased by 30% this year, and no official statistics on the volume of mining have been published by the end of December.

According to the report, the share of construction materials in the amount of mineral extraction is 60 to 65% and this process is expected to continue this year.

Iran ranks tenth in terms of mineral diversity with 68 types of minerals, and ranks 15th in terms of identified reserves with a figure of about 60 billion tons, which is close to 40 billion tons definite and the rest is probable.
