Establishment of a mining industrial town in the south of Damghan
Representative of the people of Damghan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly: The permit to establish a mining industrial town south of Damghan was issued by the Small Industries and Industrial Towns Organization of Iran.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Ali Akbar Alizadeh Barmi stated: The mining industrial town south of Damghan will be established on a land with an area of 600 hectares, in the first step, 50 hectares of this space will be prepared for industrial units.
He stated: The purpose of creating this town is to prevent the sale of raw materials and to try to integrate industrial and mining units in order to process the extracted products.
Alizadeh Barami stated: At present, the initial stages of land transfer from land affairs have been done and this town is located in the teachers' area located in the south of Damghan city.
He said that the reason for creating this town in the southern regions is the existence of rich mines in this region and added: the town of the mining industrial area in the south of Damghan is responsible for providing services to the mines, supplying water, electricity and gas.
The representative of the people of Damghan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: "The long-term vision for the city is to establish factories to process mineral products, and with the establishment of this town, the first step in this field was taken."
Damghan is one of the mining cities of the country which has many rich mines. In this city, 25 types of minerals are extracted from 141 mines with exploitation licenses.
During the last 2 years, 14 mines and new mineral processing units were licensed in this city.
Currently, 1,987 people are directly employed in the mines of the city and barite, oxide, industrial soil, coal, copper, zinc, lead, iron ore and gypsum are the most important products of the mines of this city.
There is 40% gypsum, 60% salt, 95% celestine, 95% zeolite, 15% sodium sulfate, 15% coal and 20% chromite in Semnan province and about 16 million tons of minerals are extracted annually in the province.
More than 42 types of minerals are extracted from the mines of Semnan province. The province ranks sixth in terms of mineral extraction and fifth in the country in terms of the number of mines.
