The head of the Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration Organization, emphasizing that the world has moved from open mineral exploration to depth, said: "The average depth of exploration coverage is 79 meters and this amount is unfortunately one meter for Iran."

According to the International Exhibition of Iranian Stone, Alireza Shahidi today in the 23rd conference of the Geological Society of Iran, referring to the geological map of the country's mines, emphasizing that our ancestors knew well in what area they live, added: We met their needs by doing mining activities.

He considered Iran as one of the oldest civilizations in the world in the field of mining, which has explored reserves such as copper, iron, lead, mercury, gold, turquoise and arsenic, and continued: exploration and evaluation of mineral resources, preparation of basic geological maps, monitoring Natural hazards and finding new energy sources are among the missions of geological organizations.

Shahidi mentioned the identification of national resources with the aim of creating added value and identifying hazards in order to prevent social harms as missions of the Geological Survey of Iran and continued: Preparing geological maps on a scale of one hundred and fifty thousandth, carrying out various thematic exploration projects in The country, 640,000 linear kilometers of aerial geophysical exploration, preparation of a national atlas of Iran's mineral potential maps and increasing the mineral analysis capacity from 10,000 samples per year to 50,000 samples per year are among the achievements of this organization.

The head of the Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration Organization noted: "Surveys show that there are about 10,500 mines in the country, about 50% of which are inactive, and we hope with the policies that are being implemented in the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization." Passive mines return to the country's production network.

Emphasizing that the world is currently exploring open pit mines for underground mines, he said: "The average depth of exploration coverage is 79 meters and this amount is one meter for Iran, and this is an unfortunate number, while the depth The discoveries are estimated at 300 to 400 meters.

According to him, 50 to 72% of the mines are located at a depth of 100 to 200 meters, and this shows the fact that we need to increase our information below the surface.

Shahidi mentioned the lack of exploration of a large part of mineral reserves, the lack of exploration of small reserves and the absence of domestic investors in the exploration sector as the challenges of this sector and reminded: In this regard, we conducted geophysical studies by airborne method. According to the plans, we are supposed to harvest 2 million and 750 thousand linear kilometers, of which 680 linear kilometers have been done so far.

The head of the Organization of Geology and Mineral Exploration, referring to the plans of this organization until 1400, noted: The preparation of the Iranian Geological Encyclopedia in order to integrate the existing geological information is one of our plans, while in the field of monitoring earth hazards, including Floods, earthquakes, subsidence, dust, mineral exploration, climate change, and plans are being updated.

Shahidi announced the implementation of a comprehensive plan for marine geological studies in this organization and reminded: in this plan, marine geological maps, sedimentology, sedimentary geochemistry and environmental pollutants, geomorphology, tourism maps and geoparks in coastal areas and Gulf marine areas Fars, Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman will be provided.

He mentioned the development of geoparks and geotourism as other programs of this organization until 1400 and said: "Currently, 31 geoparks have been established in the country, in addition to which 5 geoparks" Khorestan (oil) "," Tabas "," Lorestan "have been set up. (Seymareh), "Hamedan (Ekbatan)" and "Aras" have been suggested.
