Secretary of the Iranian Stone Association: In the next two months, export duties will be abolished by the Court of Administrative Justice.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, the secretary of the Iranian Stone Association said regarding the latest measures taken to eliminate the export duties on decorative stone: "During the past six months, we have witnessed a decrease in the export of decorative stone in one country.

Ahmad Sharifi added: "Measures have been taken in this regard, one of which is to take a complaint to the Administrative Court of Justice, and we hope that these export duties will be abolished by the Court within the next one to two months." In fact, the 20% export duty on decorative stone has been wrong since the beginning, and many government officials now acknowledge this.

According to him, the decision taken last year by the Economic Council and the heads of the three branches to receive a 20% toll on the export of decorative stones could only be implemented by the end of last year, but despite the fact that from this year It is illegal to make these export duties, we see that export duties and exporters are still collected in the new year.

The secretary of the Iranian Stone Association added: "We have taken our protest in this regard to the Court of Administrative Justice in order to cancel the duties that are currently being illegally collected from exporters at customs."

Sharifi, noting that the follow-up has been done to cancel or reduce export duties during the past six months, continued: "Holding a meeting with the Chairman of Imidro, the Deputy Minister of Mines of the Ministry of Industry and the Chairman of the Trade Development Organization is one of these measures. Managers were opposed to export duties on stone, but during this time due to changes in the body of the ministry and the lack of a minister in the Ministry of Industry for a while caused the process to take longer, but is expected in the next one to two months by Administrative Court of Justice should abolish export duties.

In the end, the secretary of the Iranian Stone Association emphasized: The Deputy Minister of Mining of the Ministry of Industry is also against this issue and it is hoped that we can prepare the ground for exports of this type of mineral from the country by reducing the export duties on decorative stone or canceling it.

It is worth mentioning that the export duties in Iran are higher for minerals in order to prevent the sale of raw materials and the production of value-added products, but for products such as decorative stone, which currently does not exist in the country due to the recession in the construction industry. There are other suitable customers for Iranian stone, it is possible to provide foreign exchange income for the country by exporting decorative stone.
