Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of West Azerbaijan: In the first half of this year, certificates of discovery were issued in 19 mining areas of the province, which is 46% more than the same period last year.

He continued: more than 218 billion rials have been invested in the exploitation of these mines, which is an increase of 9% in terms of the number of licenses and 15% in terms of the volume of investment compared to the same period last year.
The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of West Azerbaijan said: "In this province, 184 exploration areas with valid exploration licenses, 43 mines with discovery certificates and 492 mines have been exploited and employment of 5,224 people has been provided."
According to the report, the mining and downstream industries are the center of development of West Azerbaijan, but the province's stone mines face many problems such as selling raw materials and lack of markets.
Granting facilities with low bank interest for working capital as well as modernization of mining machinery is necessary to improve the performance of mines in this province.
West Azerbaijan is in a good position in terms of mineral reserves, but it still has a long way to go to make the best use of the capacities of the mining sector and the mining industry.
The area of West Azerbaijan is covered by three of the twenty zones of systematic exploration of the country, including "Oshnoyeh-Khoy", "Marivan-Mahabad" and "Shahin Dej-Mahneshan".
The main industries of West Azerbaijan are concentrated in the fruit, food and non-metallic mineral processing industries.
