Changing government policy in the mining sector
Member of the Board of Directors of Iran Mining House: The increase in export duties on mineral raw materials has led to consequences such as rising unemployment and layoffs. In addition, this can hit the miner hard, as the mine gradually shuts down when mining costs exceed profits.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, the mining sector is one of the areas that can play the role of savior in the current economic situation. In the meantime, the government should be forward-thinking and should not throw stones at mining activists by enacting hourly laws, increasing unprecedented tolls, and so on. Some policies need to be reviewed by the government; For example, if we increase property interest, government rights and duties, we must also think about the consequences and know that the laws of the hour do not always work.
The increase in export duties on mineral raw materials has had consequences such as rising unemployment and layoffs. In addition, this can hit the miner hard, as the mine gradually shuts down when mining costs exceed profits.
We need to know that sudden decisions such as increasing tolls have many disadvantages for mining activity. Hourly laws have always been harmful, as they also prevent foreign companies from cooperating with us. Let's not forget that the first issue that foreign companies are looking for is stable rules. Ministries and officials cannot confront foreign activists with different laws every day because they need intellectual security.
Given this, one must be forward-looking in the mining sector. If we take more money from the operator, our problem will not be solved, but we have added only one problem to the problems of the mining sector. If we want the mining sector to grow and the economy to flourish as a result, we must avoid sudden and destructive decisions that are more to the detriment of the miner and in the long run to the detriment of the economy. We also expect the Twelfth Government to enter into the oversight debate better and to try to play its oversight role well. If the supervision of the mining sector increases, we can hope that both the interests of the miners will be preserved and we will see the economic development of the mining sector.
