Member of the Board of Mining Engineering System of Kermanshah Province: There is no news of the implementation of "Kermanshah Stone City", Kermanshah Stone City could be a suitable commercial center for decorative stone in the west of the country and even provide entry to markets such as Iraq and Syria.

According to the International Exhibition of Iranian Stone, Morteza Azizi, referring to the significant potentials of decorative stone in Kermanshah province and the plans that were proposed for the optimal use of this capacity, said: "One of the most important plans was to create a stone city in Kermanshah, which unfortunately did not succeed."

A member of the board of directors of the Kermanshah Province Mining Engineering System stated about the goals that were drawn to create the city of stone: Used more.

Azizi emphasized: in the form of the city of stone, it was supposed to focus on the proper processing of decorative stone and also to pay attention to domestic and foreign sales and exports.

He believes that the city of stone could become a center for the decorative stone trade in the west of the country, and even provide conditions for the export of stone from this region to countries such as Iraq and Syria to meet their reconstruction needs.

Azizi pointed out: In 1396, we seriously pursued the plan to build the city of stone in the mining engineering system, and good studies and field work were done at a significant cost, and we even went to the stage of introducing a consultant, but since then the work has remained undecided. Is.

He called for the cooperation of the public sector to implement such projects and said: "Unfortunately, the situation is such that with the change of custodians in the field of mining, these good projects will also be marginalized."

A member of the board of directors of Kermanshah Mining Engineering System about the problems that currently exist in the field of decorative stone in Kermanshah, added: "Currently, what is done in the field of processing decorative stone in Kermanshah is very weak and most of this product goes to other provinces and after processing from There, it is sent to Iran or abroad at a multiple price, and its added value is earned by other provinces.

Azizi also mentioned the small number of stone-cutting units in the province and said that for each mine we have decorative stone with at least five stone-cutting units, reminded: the number of good and significant decorative stone mines in the province is now fifteen to twenty mines and Based on this, we should have more than seventy stone-cutting units now, but the total number of active quarries in Kermanshah now reaches 30, many of which, of course, work below capacity.

He added: "On the other hand, many of these stonecutters have old and worn equipment that needs to be renovated."

A member of the board of directors of the Kermanshah Mining Engineering System considered management problems as well as the lack of trained and capable personnel in the quarrying units as other issues facing the Kermanshah quarries.

Azizi said that some non-expert comments sometimes make the condition of decorative stone units worse, adding: "Sometimes it is said that several modern stone cutting units will be built instead of the current units." While with the construction of a modern unit, the existing units will be lost and thirty quarries will be closed.

He said: "If something is to be done for stone cutting units, it is better to develop and equip the units we have so that their capacity can be used better."
