High rock waste and production of rock powder sludge during cutting and stone cutting activities in Khomeini Shahr area, has created environmental problems for this city and especially the agricultural lands of Khoshab region.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, in the past, in the north of Vernosfadaran region of Khomeini Shahr, the fields were sandy and not suitable for agriculture, but in the east, there was a desert with a pleasant climate called "Khoshab" and it has been a place of cultivation and agriculture since ancient times. have been. Unfortunately, with the lack of a specific workshop area in Khomeini Shahr, over time, annoying urban jobs have spread around the city and created problems. One of these union units is several stone-cutting factories that impose environmental pollution in various dimensions such as dust and waste and so-called mud-stone waste on the environment of the city.

Dust that forms when cutting or scraping stone can be harmful because it contains "silica". These particles can reach deep into the lungs and cause a condition called silicosis. Of course, it should be noted that air pollution is more in tangible masonry that works without water.

Slurry from stone production includes a mixture of water and very fine rock particles (rock powder) from other rock waste. This slurry is in the form of dilute juice that flows easily, is present in all parts of the production line and is then transferred to sedimentation ponds. The water in the last basin is pumped back to the production line and after settling the suspended particles called rock powder, it settles in the form of mud and these sediments are collected after drying and disposed of. A number of stone masons in the city of Gol dump their stone to dry on the agricultural lands adjacent to their factory, which causes infertility.

The problem is the legal vacuum!

The head of the environmental protection department of Khomeini Shahr city said that the reason for not solving this problem was a legal vacuum and said: "Last year, 22 factories and this year, four new factories have been identified as polluting." The dust from cutting rocks contains silica, which can penetrate deep into the lungs and cause a disease called silicosis.

He said: "Of course, it should be noted that air pollution is more in tangible masonry that operate without water." Slurry from stone production includes a mixture of water and very fine rock particles (rock powder) from other rock waste.

Saeed Yousefpour added: "According to Article 20 of the Municipalities, these jobs are among the annoying urban jobs and the municipality must deal with them." The rubbish generated by these factories endangers the urban environment and by law these factories should not be located within the city limits.

"We do not have the legal tools," he said. "None of these industrial units are licensed to be located in the environment, and the environment can only determine pollution and fine the officially licensed industries." The Security Council can also pursue this issue as a city problem.

Those who dump waste in public places will be dealt with legally

Also, the deputy of municipal services of Khomeini-Shahr municipality, stating that from the past until now, there is a pleasant climate in the east of Vernosfadaran region, which is called Khoshab and has been a place of cultivation and agriculture since ancient times, said: Annoying urban occupations, these occupations are scattered throughout the city and have created many problems for citizens and the urban environment. One of these problems is rock waste, which threatens fertile agricultural lands.

Ezatullah Saffar stated: According to the duties assigned in the commission of paragraph 20, annoying urban jobs will be monitored and those who have violated will be dealt with.

Regarding the offending stone-cutting units in Khoshab and Doshakh areas, he said: "In the last few years, these stone-throwing units have been warned and more than four of them have been sealed by the prosecutor's office, but we do not agree with the sealing of factories. People will become unemployed and we will try harder to solve the problem by giving warnings and talking.

The deputy of municipal services of Khomeini-Shahr municipality pointed to holding several meetings with the union of stonecutters and said: "We deal with those who dump their waste in public streets through judicial and law enforcement authorities, but sometimes we see that stone waste is dumped in the passage and we do not know that this The waste is related to which stone cutting and makes this difficult.

Saffar said that only a limited number of stonecutters have solved their pollution problem with a warning, adding that some of these units dump their waste in the area of their own factory, in which case the municipality cannot enter and requires environmental monitoring.

He called this problem a city problem and specified: to solve this problem, all devices, including the environment and agricultural jihad, must come to the fore, because these stonecutters are without a permit and are located in agricultural lands, and most farmers are polluted. They are protesting.

Reducing urban dust is the result of municipal follow-up

A member of the Islamic Council of Khomeini Shahr and a member of the commission of paragraph 20 of Khomeini Shahr Municipality also said in this regard: Khomeini Shahr is not very large and these stonecutters have been constructed sporadically for many years. Some of these units have even been shut down, but there are still mudstones around them.

Abdolreza Abbasi, referring to the small size of stone cutting in Khoshab and Doshakh areas, said: "Due to their small size, these industrial units cannot dry their stone mud in their factory area so that it can be moved more efficiently, so they dumped it outside the factory." Which carries environmental pollution. It is best to transport these wastes before they dry, and the union should warn them about this.

Referring to the fact that some of the owners of the lands where the stone was left are not available, he said: "Due to the large number of files submitted to the commission of the 20th municipal municipality, cases that have private plaintiffs are a priority, but in the field Stonemasons We have not waited for public complaints and we have dealt with them.

Emphasizing the sensitivity of the Islamic Council of the city on environmental issues and problems, Abbasi added: "The notifications and warnings we have given to the factories have not been ineffective and some of them have removed their pollution, which can be seen in the reduction of dust in the city."

This member of the Islamic Council of Khomeini-Shahr referred to the municipal negotiations with the Islamic Azad University of Khomeini-Shahr to solve this problem and said: "During the scientific research of the university and the negotiations it had with the municipality, we intend to jointly implement a new project during which Golsang And its waste will be turned into paving. In addition to reducing the environmental problems of stone cutting, this project will also be a lucrative project.

Pursuant to paragraph "b" of Article 192 of the Law on the Fifth Economic Development Plan of the country and the Law on Waste Management, production and industrial units are required to submit an operational plan for the executive management of industrial and special waste.
