Building trust to revitalize and dynamize exhibitions
Director of Iran Mall Exhibition Center: In the exhibition ecosystem, if any of the stakeholders and agents have a non-strategic or accelerated move, the cost and damage is on the whole industry and in fact the whole ecosystem.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, exhibitions need to be re-engineered conceptually and perceptually. The concept of the exhibition in the country has long been seriously damaged and has not been updated due to the conditions, especially after the corona issue; Therefore, it should be seriously considered, redefined and re-engineered with an infrastructure perspective.
This re-engineering should be done in a think tank whose representatives from various and involved sectors, including members with ideas, experience and decision-making in the field of exhibition industry, sit together and while benefiting from international achievements, opinions and experiences, their goal is limited to site, organization and group. Not themselves, but with a national and even transnational perspective and by examining the conditions of the country and the factors influencing this industry, firstly, to update the definitions and identify stakeholders and stakeholders, and secondly, their goal is to regain lost trust among all stakeholders and stakeholders. Third, identify and explain the necessary infrastructure for activation and, more importantly, dynamization of the country's exhibition industry.
Today, in times of crisis, the values and definitions of a number of keywords have changed. For example, in a normal environment, one of the driving forces and keywords of progress is "competition", but in an industry that has come under all kinds of attacks due to corona, recession, sanctions and international pressures, this is no longer the case. Competitions today must also be Sympathetic competition.
A competition that, while having components of excellence and development, maintains and even promotes the whole industry by supporting other elements of the ecosystem, especially competitors, because if all the elements of this industry are not united, integrated and targeted, not only with possible and even ineffective errors One of the pillars is that the whole industry suffers, but also loses its position in various fields, from official institutions to visitors and people.
In an exhibition ecosystem, if any of the actors and agents have a non-strategic or accelerated move, the cost and damage is on the whole industry and in fact the whole ecosystem. For example, who is to blame when an exhibition closes on the opening night? Who pays the damages and costs to the site owner, executor, exhibitor, contributor and other stakeholders? And deeper than that, who bears the lost credentials and opportunities and credits? And countless other questions, a significant portion of which, unfortunately, relate to the lack of coordination, synergy, and unanimity of the elements influencing the holding of events.
In the current situation, the question is why a think tank is not established that covers the public, private and semi-private, academic and scientific sectors, is a platform for interaction, consensus and participation, and its decisions are based on collective wisdom, according to industry conditions. To be taken with a realistic view and based on interactions and reliable decisions with other decision-making, governing and effective elements of the country, not based on perceptions, opinions and limited individual or group tastes?
Today we are in a very sensitive situation. It must be done in such a way that the actors involved and effective in the exhibition ecosystem, in addition to carrying out their missions, also take care of each other. This is a new look that has become a model for most of the world's industries, especially during the Corona epidemic. With this attitude, all the pillars are purposefully combined in order to strengthen the ecosystem, so that they survive in the first step and do not destroy the capacities of growth and development in the next steps.
On the other hand, if we are to enter the international competition in order to be dynamic and gain our special place while reviving the exhibition industry, the private sector alone cannot compete in the international arena and will definitely need government support. Our expectation from the government and related institutions related to exhibitions, whose main mission is to lay the groundwork and support the main pillars of the exhibition industry in order to improve quantity and quality and strengthen and develop exports, is that if it does not stand in the policy position and insist on executive presence. And even if it pays special attention to some centers, looks at the private sector as a competitor, at least tolerates the presence of the private sector in crises and is not indifferent to the limitations and obstacles to the progress of the private sector and in dealing with their obstacles and problems. Active, supportive and effective.
All of us and all the pillars of this industry, whether public, private or academic, must act in such a way that we appear proud and valuable in the position of accountability and in defense of our legal duties and missions and taking advantage of the capacities and opportunities for growth, development and promotion. . We hope that with effective strategic plans, medium and short-term, we will play our role in economic prosperity, employment and exports, and we will all be in the same direction and ally in raising the proud flag of our beloved country Iran.
