Sixty-five percent share of small mines in mining production
A study of the small-scale mining activation plan shows that 98.3% of the country's total mines have small-scale characteristics, which account for sixty-five percent of the share of mineral production.
According to the International Exhibition of Iranian Stone, based on the statistical information of the Organization for Development and Renovation of Mines and Mineral Industries of Iran (Imidro), the plan to activate small-scale mines in different parts of the country with the aim of activating private mines that are semi-active due to domestic or international conditions. Or have been closed, defined since the beginning of 1397 and became operational in 1398.
Statistical data of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade show that there are about ten thousand five hundred mines in the country, of which six thousand one hundred are active mines and the rest are in the process of equipping or inactive.
In addition, carcass stone mines account for 30% of active mines and 25% of total mines.
Small-scale mines account for 85% of the total employment in this field.
In 2016, the Statistics Center of Iran reported in the census of mines that 4,913 mines were being exploited, of which 1,041 mines with a 23.2% share belonged to sand and It was sand, limestone with nine hundred and two mines (18.4%), carcass stone with seven hundred and thirty-nine mines (fifteen percent) had the highest number.
The statistical table of the Mining House also showed that among the twenty-four minerals, carcass stone with one thousand two hundred and seventy-one mines, limestone with five hundred and fifty-one and marble with four hundred and sixty-five mines had the highest number of active mines. According to Imidro, by the end of last year, one hundred and forty-six mines in less developed areas were rehabilitated by implementing a plan to rehabilitate and activate small mines.
Also, the revitalization of two hundred mines and the construction of twenty-five processing units are targeted for this year, while the Ministry of Industry (Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Industries) had previously announced the plan to activate one thousand and twenty mines this year.
According to Imidro, nine mines were rehabilitated by the end of June this year, and four hundred and ninety mines were identified and prioritized, and clinical trials were conducted on 33 mines.
In addition, the rehabilitation and activation of the "Miloyeh" copper mine located in Sirjan, Kerman province, was on the agenda by attracting investors, while the rehabilitation and activation of eight mines is in the provincial working group.
According to this report, last year, the amount of extracted minerals, according to the statistics announced by the Deputy Minister of Mines of the Ministry of Industry, reached four hundred and ten million tons, and this year is expected to increase by at least twenty-five percent.
