One hundred years of savings to buy housing in Tehran
Member of the Economic Commission of the Majles: In the per capita index of housing and property, the situation of the country has worsened. To buy a unit of seventy-five meters, the third decile of income must save sixty-three years.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Seyyed Ehsan Khandavi stated that forty years ago, on average, both Iranian households lived in a real estate unit: "Currently, there are more real estate units in the country than households."
He added: "This is while the property index in the country has decreased and the number of tenants has increased." In terms of per capita housing index, the situation has worsened per capita.
He stated: The situation has worsened in the purchasing power index of the people, today the third decile of income to buy a housing unit of seventy-five square meters in Tehran must save sixty-three years.
A member of the Economic Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: the income decile of one also needs more than a hundred years to be able to buy a seventy-five meter house in Tehran with the minimum wage.
Khandouzi said that the reason for this situation was the underemployment of the housing supply side and added: during the time of the former Minister of Roads and Urban Development, the underemployment of both the supply side and the lack of control over commercial demands intensified.
