Turkey restricted the acceptance of Iranian trucks
Iranian Customs Spokesperson: The reason for the slow traffic is that Turkey accepts only about 150 trucks a day from the Bazargan border, and other borders between Iran and Turkey do not allow trucks to travel.
According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, a line of kilometers of Iranian export trucks and transit trucks has been established behind the Turkish border at the Bazargan border for several days. While some of these trucks have perishable cargo or, according to the contract, the cargo must reach its destination on a certain date, otherwise the owner of the cargo will suffer significant damage, but Turkey will slowly accept the Iranian truck from the merchant border.
On the other hand, for some time now, it has not accepted any common border with Turkey other than the freight truck merchant, and other borders, such as Sarv or Poldasht and Nakhchivan, have been deactivated to accept trucks.
This action of Turkey has caused several kilometers of trucks to remain in the line of the Turkish border, and the daily delay in the movement of these trucks means an increase in transportation costs. Customs says the reason for the slowdown at the Bazargan border is that Turkey accepts only 150 trucks.
Ruhollah Latifi stated about the latest situation of Bazargan border: Yesterday, ninety-six export trucks entered Turkey from Bazargan border and also fifty-nine transit trucks went to Turkey from this border.
He continued: "Yesterday, the number of trucks entering from Turkey was one hundred and ninety, and eighty-two transit trucks entered our country from Turkey through the Bazargan border."
According to the Iranian customs spokesman, there are also 350 trucks that have received exit documents but have not yet left the Bazargan border for Turkey.
Latifi said about the reason for the slow traffic of Iranian trucks from Bazargan border to Turkey or transit trucks: The reason for the slow traffic is that Turkey accepts only about one hundred and fifty trucks a day from Bazargan border and other borders of Iran and Turkey can be crossed. Not a truck.
He added: "Previously, trucks were accepted from the Sarv border, but now this border is only for passengers."
This decision of Turkey comes at a time when Iran accepts more than 300 imported and transit trucks from Turkey daily, and if there is a demand on some days, it will accept more than 300 trucks without restrictions. Meanwhile, during the border meeting, Iran requested the acceptance of more than one hundred and fifty trucks a day, but the Turkish side stated that a decision should be made in the Tehran-Ankara negotiations.
According to the latest foreign trade report, Iran's exports to Turkey in the first four months of this year have decreased by about ninety percent, but the decline in imports from Turkey is less than one percent, although some of these reductions are due to the corona.
In the first four months of this year, we imported one million eight hundred and seventy thousand tons worth one billion one hundred and seventy-eight million dollars, which accounted for 11 percent of the country's imports, but our exports to Turkey were about eight hundred and forty. And two thousand tons were worth four hundred and fifty million dollars, which according to these statistics, we experienced a ninety percent decrease in weight and eighty-two percent decrease in dollar value in terms of exports to Turkey.
