The Vice President of Isfahan Stone Industry Union announced a 60% increase in the price of raw materials in Isfahan Stone Industry compared to last year.
According to the International Stone Exhibition of Iran, Mohammad Babaei, President of the Isfahan Stone Industry Union, stated: The main reason for the rusting of the production wheels of many units of the Isfahan Stone Industry is the 60% increase in raw material prices compared to last year.
He added: "On the other hand, increasing and not preventing the sale of raw stone has caused us to face many problems in terms of revenue generation of this industry."
The head of the Isfahan Stone Industry Union continued: "Since Isfahan province produces a variety of precious stones, including granite, travertine, porcelain and marble, preventing the sale of raw stones can be the second most lucrative industry in addition to the prosperity of part of the community economy." Babaei continued: "On the other hand, Isfahan province's stone industry is the second most employment-generating industry in the country, so that currently in the province's two thousand stone production units, an average of twenty-five people are working in each production unit."
He added: "Currently, this amount of foreign exchange earnings from stone exports in Isfahan province is one hundred million dollars annually, and Turkey, India, Russia and Iraq are the largest buyers of stone in Isfahan province."
The head of the Isfahan Stone Industry Union reminded: Isfahan province has three million and fifty decorative stone mines with the production of five million tons of raw stone per year, and thousands of people are directly and indirectly working in this industry.
Babaei said: Natanz city with more than one billion reserves and production of five hundred tons of granite per year is known as the first city with granite in the country.
He emphasized: After Natanz city, Golpayegan and Maymeh cities have the most stone reserves in Isfahan province, respectively.
