The head of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce announced the agreements reached with Iraq to reopen Iran's southern borders with the country, two days a week, and the return of government export currency.
According to the International Iranian Stone Fair, Yahya Al-Ishaq said about the latest situation of trade relations between Iran and Iraq and its improvement: "Yes, in recent days the situation of trade between Iran and Iraq has improved, but there was no problem on the northern borders of Iraq and Exchanges took two to three days.
He continued: "Due to health issues caused by the outbreak of the coronavirus, there was a problem in the southern borders, which, according to the agreements reached recently, are to be opened two to three days a week."
The head of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce, referring to the Iraqi Prime Minister's visit to his country's borders, stated: "During these visits, he has issued good orders to clarify and regulate the borders, and we hope that the situation will improve day by day."
Al-Ishaq pointed out: "There are a few problems regarding transportation and visas, and we are looking to resolve these issues." Of course, we don't have much of a problem with transportation, and two thousand five hundred to three thousand trucks are moved daily.
Regarding the return of Iraq's export currency, he clarified: "The export currency of the private sector from Iraq is not a problem in its return and it has returned completely, and only the government currency that was for the sale of electricity and energy has returned, which is also due to negotiations and agreements." The head of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce added: "Iraq's export currency last year was twelve billion dollars, of which nine billion dollars were returned in full and the remaining three billion dollars belong to the government, which is returning with the agreements reached."
