Head of South Khorasan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization: This year, ten mining exploration areas in the province will be handed over to companies with technical and financial competence that have the necessary capacity for exploration and exploitation.

According to the International Exhibition of Iranian Stone, Davood Shahraki added: in Tabas city, three mines, Sarbisheh and Khosaf counties, two mines and Zirkuh, Bashravieh counties and one mine each will be handed over.

He said: "Of these areas, six are exploratory mines and four can be exploited."

The head of South Khorasan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization announced the cancellation and reorganization of undecided mining areas in the province and said: those mines that have not started their activities in exploration or exploitation six to one year after handing over, have been identified and compared. He continued: "We will not suspend any project that is closed without any justification or excuse, and it will be handed over to potential investors with the aim of creating employment and developing the province's mines."

Shahraki said that the mining areas will be handed over through an auction, adding that more than 90 percent of the mines in the province are licensed by the private sector.

Regarding the retention of exploration cancellation limits, he said: "According to Article 43 of the Sixth Development Plan Law (Provincial Mines Council), the maintenance and renewal of revocation exploration licenses is subject to at least 50% progress in exploration operations with expertise and responsibility of heads of provincial and free industries." Shahraki, referring to the current situation of the province's mines, said: "A total of six hundred and fifty mining licenses with a nominal capacity of seventeen and seven million tons and a definite reserve of two thousand five hundred and fifty million tons have been issued in South Khorasan province."

He added: "By exploiting these mines, with the investment of fourteen thousand five hundred and eighty-two billion rials, direct employment has been created for many people."
