According to the International Stone Exhibition of Iran, Ali Tashneh Del added on the sidelines of his visit to the mines in southern Semnan: "The province's mineral resources, as national assets, play an essential role in sustainable development and economic prosperity."

He added: "According to the Sixth Development Plan, the optimal use of these mineral resources is a necessity, and the realization of this requires special attention to expert solutions for the development of mines."

The head of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of Semnan Province continued: "Preventing the sale of raw materials and increasing the value-added share of mineral products are among the strategies for the development of mines."

 Tashneh Del said that the completion of exploration activities, development and equipping of large mines and optimal exploitation of these mineral reserves are the most important strategies for mining development and added:

Semnan province has more than six hundred and twenty mines with forty-two known minerals, and annually over twenty-two million tons of minerals are extracted, of which the definite reserves of the mines of this province are about six hundred million tons and their potential reserves are about one billion tons. Semnan province has the first rank in terms of production of gypsum, salt, celestine and zeolite, the second rank in the production of sodium sulfate and the third rank in the production of coal and chromite in the country.
