Pedram Soltani's analysis of Iran's exports this year
The former vice president of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce says that global trade and commerce in Iran will experience a significant difference this year due to the outbreak of the corona virus.
According to the International Stone Exhibition of Iran, the economic activist, who spoke on one of the social networks, referring to the World Trade Organization's forecast of a thirteen to thirty-two percent decrease in the volume of world trade in 2020, said: It appears that this decline in performance will be even more severe than the 2008 economic crisis, and thus global trade will experience a 15-year setback. However, many analysts say that after Corona's passage, more than 20 percent of the reduction will be offset.
Referring to the changes that Iran's trade will experience under the influence of Corona, he explained: "According to statistics, we exported more than forty-one billion dollars last year, but due to the decrease in global exports, Iran's exports will also decline and be estimated." We need to prepare ourselves for a 30% reduction in the value of exports.
According to the former deputy chairman of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, there is a possibility that Iran's exports will be reduced by between ten and twelve billion dollars under the influence of Corona. Reducing the export of Iran's petrochemical, steel and mineral products, ceramic tiles and nuts will be the main factors influencing this reduction in trade.
Referring to the pressure that Corona has put on producers, Soltani said: "The cost of Iranian manufactured goods has risen and, unfortunately, Iran's economy continues to struggle with high inflation this year." If these problems are addressed through internal political differences, the space for economic activity will become more difficult.
Referring to China's role in Iran's foreign trade, the former vice president of Iran's Chamber of Commerce said: "China, Iran's main trading partner in recent years, seems to be the least vulnerable economy in 2020, and therefore our exports to this country will continue." But it will be cautious about reducing Iraq's oil revenues, and it is likely that the second major importer of goods from Iran will face restrictions.
