Seven tons of smuggled ore discovered in Esfarayen
The head of the Esfarayen police command announced the discovery of seven tons and eighty-five kilograms of smuggled ore worth more than five hundred and sixty-six million rials.
According to the International Iran Stone Exhibition, Colonel Majid Yeganehpour said: "In line with the operational plan to fight against unauthorized use of mines, officers of Abbasabad police station, while patrolling the protected area, succeeded in identifying two Nissan vehicles carrying non-ore." He pointed out that the officers stopped these vehicles with the coordination of the judicial authority, adding: during the inspection of these vehicles, four tons, six hundred and sixty-five kilograms of lead ore were seized.
He stated: Eleven police officers also managed to identify a Nissan vehicle carrying unauthorized lead-type ore during a patrol in the Albalagh protected area.
Colonel Yeganehpour, noting that the officers stopped the car in question, added: "During the inspection of this car, two tons and four hundred and twenty kilograms of ore were seized."
He stated that in this regard, three defendants were arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities after filing a case, noting that three vehicles were confiscated and the discovered ore was handed over to the city's Department of Industry and Mines in coordination with the judicial authority.
