One hundred and seventy mineral processing units in West Azerbaijan
Deputy Minister of Mines and Minerals of West Azerbaijan Organization of Mines, Trade and Commerce: One hundred and seventeen mineral, sand and sand processing units are active in the province to prevent the sale of minerals.
According to the International Stone Exhibition of Iran, Parisa Abedpour added: "Thirty-nine of these units are active in stone-carving, and have been employed for five hundred and nineteen persons."
He said: The production capacity of this number of stone units is estimated to be more than eight hundred twenty-seven thousand tons of ornamental stone per year.
He also said that seventy-eight units are active in the sand processing field in West Azerbaijan, with eight hundred and forty-seven people working directly in these units.
Deputy Director of Mines and Minerals Affairs of West Azerbaijan Organization of Industry, Mining and Trade said that the production capacity of this sand processing unit is more than eight million three hundred twenty three thousand tons per year.
Abedpour also stated that the purpose of preventing crude sale of minerals in this province is to set up iron ore concentrate and refractory soil processing unit with an investment of one hundred and eighty billion rials in West Azerbaijan.
He emphasized: One hundred and thirty billion riyals of this amount is earmarked for the construction of the iron ore concentrate unit and with the commissioning of this unit it will be employed for one hundred people.
He added: Raw materials for iron ore concentrate processing unit will be provided from five iron ore mines in the province.
Referring to the good capacities of the region in the field of refractory soil processing, he said, 50 billion riyals of capital have been set up for this unit.
The Deputy Minister of Mines and Minerals of West Azerbaijan Organization of Mines, Trade and Commerce, referring to the implementation of mineral processing projects in recent years in the province, stated: There are currently three processing units in the north and south of the province, including Chinese Piranshahr, Travertine Takab and Marble Poldasht. The mining and downstream industries are central to the development of West Azerbaijan, but the province's stone mines face numerous problems such as crude sales and a lack of markets.
Providing low-interest bank facilities for working capital as well as modernizing mining machinery are essential to improve the province's mining performance.
West Azerbaijan is in a good position in the field of mineral resources, but it still has a long way to go before it can exploit the capacity of the mining and mining industries optimally.
The West Azerbaijan area is covered by three zones of the country's twenty systematic exploration zones, including "Ashnoye-Khoy", "Marivan-Mahabad" and Shahin-fortress-Mahnashan.
