Member of the Board of Directors of the Iran-Italy Chamber of Commerce: There is a great deal of pressure from the Italian private sector to increase the economic link between the two countries by launching a financial channel. The economic situation of the Italian government is such that it cannot ignore the attractive Iranian market.

According to Iran's International Stone Exhibition, Lida Shahabi said about the economic relationship between Iran and Italy: Before America left Brajam, Italy was our first trading partner in the EU and many of Iran's industrial infrastructures were built by Italians. Because of our partnership with ENI, we had the largest sales of oil to the country, and this led to oil being the most important player in Iran's exports to Italy. But the oil company was one of the first to leave Iran after sanctions began despite US exemptions, since the Italian oil infrastructure was also designed with respect to Iranian oil, and ENI's exit was a major detriment to those companies.

He also said: The former Italian government was a right-wing cabinet that was a fan of Donald Trump, so they were not interested in contacting us and guarded against it, but the new cabinet is moderate, and we hope the relations between the two countries will increase. Find out.

The secretary general of the Iran-Italy Joint Chamber stated that the volume of economic exchanges between the two countries amounted to five and a half billion euros a year, of which three and seven billion included oil and one and four billion non-oil transactions, but this amounted to six hundred in the year. And it came to eighty million euros, which is a very low figure. At present, our major exports include steel, iron, salmon, nuts, fruits and copper, and most of our imports are machinery, heavy-duty equipment, automobiles, textiles, ophthalmology, and pharmaceuticals.

"Some Italian banks, such as POPOLARE, work on a case-by-case basis with Iranians and continue to work with old customers whose credit is clear to the bank," said Shahabi. Open to Iranian customers, it's not possible at all.

A member of the board of directors of the Iran-Italy Chamber of Commerce said that small and medium-sized enterprises are very important in the Italian economy. These companies are interested in establishing an economic relationship with Iran because they see the potential and attraction of the Iranian market and are reluctant to ignore it, so the authorities in both countries must provide mechanisms to expand cooperation and act as catalysts. Therefore, the Iran-Italy Chamber is doing its utmost to resolve the problems of Iranian businessmen by negotiating and consulting with Italian parties and facilitating trade relations between the two countries.

"We hope that it will join Intex because the Italian government has changed and there is a tendency for this," he said. There is also enormous pressure from the private sector for the government to increase the economic link between the two countries by launching a financial channel. The economic situation of the Italian government is such that it cannot ignore the attractive Iranian market. So we hope to launch this financial channel and join Italy.
