Eighteen ornamental stone mines in Semnan
The head of Semnan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization announced that there are more than two and a half billion tonnes of geological reserves in the province, pointing out the mineral diversity in the province, adding that there are currently eighteen ornamental units in the province.
According to Iran's International Stone Exhibition, Behrouz Asadi stated at the meeting of the Resistance Command's headquarters in the province that there are more than 2.5 billion tonnes of geological reserves in Semnan and more than 500 million tonnes of definitive mineral reserves.
He presented a report on the development of mineral infrastructure to the mineral potentials of the province and stated: Semnan province with rich and diverse mineral reserves and exploitation of about forty types of minerals, ranked first in terms of gypsum, salt, celestine and zeolite production. It ranks second in sodium sulphate production, third in coal and chromite production and one of the country's top three provinces in coal production.
Head of Semnan Province Industry, Mining and Trade Organization continued: At present six hundred and nine licenses have been issued in Semnan province, in terms of number of mines in five countries and in terms of extraction of sixth in terms of number of personnel employed. It is ranked sixth in the country in mining.
Asadi noted: Of the six hundred and nine active mines in the province, eighty-four units in the metal sector, two hundred and twenty-five units in the non-metallic sector, eighteen units in the decorative stone sector and two hundred and eighty-two units in the building materials sector. Three hundred and forty units work in season and two hundred and fifty-seven units in full season.
He said that twelve units are also being equipped: Semnan province has a high mineral potential and with the creation of infrastructure it can provide more prosperity in this province.
