What about Kermanshah Stone Town?
There were rumors a few years ago that Kermanshah would become the "Stone City". A place for gathering stone-throwing units and rock activists who can perform their tasks from production to supply at a given location.
According to the International Stone Exhibition of Iran, after several years of this project, no action has been taken to set up Kermanshah Stone City, and we are still witnessing a significant crude sale of Kermanshah decorative stones to other provinces and sometimes overseas. It goes away and its added value is earned by others.
This profit goes to Kermanshah while the province's ornamental stone capacity in Islamabad, Harsin and so on is very significant.
Board member of Kermanshah province mining house on the latest situation of Kermanshah Stone said: "There is no specific news in this area yet and it is unlikely that any action will be taken to set up Stone City."
Heidar Zarafshani in an interview with ISNA stated that the launch of the stone city for Kermanshah has been discussed a few years ago, adding: The establishment of this center will solve many of the problems of the active units in the stone field.
He also mentioned the problems with decorative stone units in different fields and continued: Some stone units still have problems in terms of electricity, waste disposal, waste disposal, environmental issues, etc. Infrastructure will be integrated for units.
A member of the board of directors of Kermanshah Mine pointed out: In addition, many stone units have high depreciation equipment with low yields and if they are aggregated in one place, they will be more likely to attract investors to assist them.
According to Zarafshani, if the city is set up in stone, the transportation situation that is now difficult for some stone-working units will improve.
He emphasized: Stone City rescues stone-cutting units from this scattering and disruption.
A member of the board of directors of Kermanshah Mine believes that different parts of stone such as warehouse, modern processing unit, permanent exhibition of products supply, loading and unloading place etc. should be considered for this city.
Zarafshani also said about the possible location of the stone city: We have a significant capacity of decorative stone mines in both Harsin (Marble) and Islamabad West (Limestone) areas, which is better near the stone mines.
He added that access to the transport system, especially rail transport, should also be considered, which could affect costs.
According to Zarafshani, the city of Stone should provide good access to both export markets and domestic markets.
