Qom Stone Cluster Development Agent: In the past three years, three consortiums have been formed in the Qom Stone Cluster and are working to expand the stone market in Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkey.

According to Iran's International Stone Exhibition, Qom Stone Cluster Development Agent pointed to the capacity of export markets for the stone industry.

Sadegh Masoumi told reporters on Sunday: "If the export markets of the province develop, the added value of this industry in Qom will be very special."

He continued: Qom province in terms of production and processing of stone industry, ranked eighth in the country and in terms of quality and processing of this industry is in the first rank of the country.

He added: Although Iran owns 10 percent of the world's stone production, Iran has no place in the world's major export markets when it comes to export.

He said: In relation to the stone industry, eight active mines in the field of granite and pseudo-granite in Qom province are being exploited and extracted.

Qom Stone Agent Development Agent said: Granite is in high demand among the people of the world, but since Iran has difficulties in exporting this industry, the mines in this sector have faced great problems.

He said: In the past three years, three consortiums have been formed in connection with the Qom stone cluster and are working to develop the stone market in Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkey.

Masoumi said: The increase in exports of the Qom stone industry to the target countries has been the most important activity of the Qom stone cluster and the three consortiums in recent years.

He also stated that for the supply of raw materials, clusters of joint purchases between production units are on the agenda and more than 25,000 tons of materials have been purchased.

He said: Branding the stone industry in the province and changing the attitude of national and provincial officials towards the capacity of the industry were other measures of the Qom cluster in the past three years.

Masoumi further stated: The province's cluster of rock has started its activities since the beginning of the year.

He also said that the formation of the cooperative for the purchase of raw materials for the stone industry is one of the plans we will soon see. In Qom province there are two hundred and fifty units associated with the stone industry, with 4,000 people working in the field.
