The governor of Mahalat city, emphasizing the competitiveness of the country's stone industry, cited Iran's share of the industry at just four percent.

He added: Despite the country's many capacities in the field of stone industry, a small share of about four percent belongs to Iran, which is a significant contribution.
Governor of Mahalat city, noting that two percent of the world's travertine stone is in Mahalat and 12 percent of the world's stone production is in the city, he said: With all these capacities a small share of sales is allocated to the country, of which ninety and Five percent of it is for sale.
He emphasized the necessity of finding and diagnosing this issue and said that there are weaknesses in the public and private sectors and that weaknesses should be identified and eliminated in order to find the country's leading position in this industry. Sajjadi added: In the past years, due to market demand, manufacturers also paid attention to domestic markets, but today due to the stagnation and failure of the construction industry in the country we have to act cross-border. The decline in demand due to the growth of barriers in the building industry has also stunted the country's stone industry, and because of rising dollar prices today's real homeowners cannot afford to buy, and the building industry and, consequently, the stone industry are in recession.
